Ministry of Justice has announced 3 occupation cetegries of E-7-1 VISA (Specific Activity VISA) such as Robotics, Industrial Safety Management and E-Commerce (Customer Consultation Clerk for International Service area ONLY) sectors.
This new VISA will be implemented from Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
1. Robotics sector (Code No.: 2352):
In order to protect domestic jobs, industrial robot operators, who can operate industrial robots through vocational training after graduation from high school, are excluded, and the educational requirements of foreign workers are limited to those with a master's degree or above.
2. Industrial Safety Management sector (Code No.: 2364):
This visa is limited to those who have an internationally recognized qualification or experience in related fields and have been invited by national institutions, local governments, government-funded research institutes, and other education and training institutions belonging to the public sector.
3. E-Commerce Sector (Code No.: 3990):
In order to protect domestic jobs, it is limited to the field of international service performance (excluding the type of telecommuting), and the minimum wage requirement for the workforce is set to be equal to or higher than the national average wage in the same workplace.
**The Ministry of Justice has decided to strengthen the employment requirements for foreigners who are able to work in certain types of occupation (E-7) visas.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) abolishes (=closes) the employment recommendation system for affiliated departments for mechanical engineers (Code No.: 2351) and draftsmen. (Code No.: 2395).
However, MOJ will strengthen the qualifications of employers and their personnel.
-. The employer, who is willing to hire mechanical engineers or draftsmen, is limited to the business with 10 or more Koreans (limited to 2 persons per company) and the minimum wage requirement for the worker is also raised to 2.2 million won (GNI 0.8 times) or more.**
